  • Nordic Pulse App, like some tech is acting up and the city is working on getting it sorted out. Don’t rely on the report, the city was grooming the last time I was out and the skiing was remarkably good given the minimal snow since the last storm.

  • Jan 23 1.30-3.30 pm. Looks like the trails were groomed today, although not shown on NP. Skied 10, 3, 4, 6 and 7.
Set classic tracks in place, mostly good, but shallow in areas under the conifers (like 10) and exposed areas like the open S facing slopes of the far E sections of 7 where there are gravelly sections. Overall-very good with a little caution here and there. Skating zone soft in places and with a few uneven spots here and there but pretty good in general.

  • Just finished a ski at Killarney, and yes no NP, so I took a chance and went out. Trails are well groomed and track set. Skating is very good although a bit cold for a good glide. Base is firm. There are a few rocks poking around so be careful on some of the downhills. Tracks look good so I made dig out my classics this weekend. I guess we will never see the end of people walking down the middle of the soft skate surfaces, as a few people were today. Oh well!!
Should we say something to those people? If everyone that skied mentioned in a kind manner to people maybe things will improve. Around the lake is a great walk, so I’m puzzled why people would want to walk on a soft surface instead of a firm one.

  • A note to say that trails 1, 2, 3, 4, and 10 are groomed at tracked at Killarney. There are some bare spots so care is required. These trails are not showing up on Nordic Pulse’s latest report. Enjoy your ski!

  • Skied in the woodlot with friends, absolutely beautifully tracked. Skied after supper in Killarney, pretty disappointing and ‘messy’. Wondering the same thing, what are we waiting for?

  • Are they ever planning on putting some tracks down this year? Or just gonna save that budget for next year?

Every year I’m just amazed/flabergasted at how the Volunteers at the Woodlot, with inferior equipment and resources, always seem to have those trails groomed, tracked, and pristine, and all before lunch. Meanwhile, at Killarney, the Paid Employees, with all the expensive equipment and budget, might get some of the trails groomed once a week or so.

    Any ideas??

  • Does anyone know if there has been any tracksetting at Killarney? Nordic pulse says no, but was curious if anyone had seen it firsthand.
    Thanks!
