Skated at noon and if you picked the right routes it was reasonable, once you get past the initial ice packed entry. #3 and all of #4 were still in good enough condition to be worthwhile. Lots of debris showing and ground starting to peek through in a few places. I would be surprised if it lives another warm day tomorrow.
Skied around lunch time. Lots of icy spots. some trails are ok but you have to be careful especially at the downhills and turns. Woodlot was in way better condition yesterday.
Slated today at noon. Trails are a combination of pretty good firm snow in some spots and solid ice in others. Had a nice ski, every day now is a bonus!
we skied yesterday morning when it started snowing and it was magical, no speed records, but the tracks set Tuesday with a bit of fresh snow made it just right. If we can just keep the base intact through this rain, maybe some new snow next week, it might extend the skiing for a while.
Was only able to get over for a night 🌙 session and glad I did. Conditions were wonderful Tuesday night everywhere I went. 🌧☔ Looks like mother nature could bring the season to an abrupt halt ☹ 👎
If you can muster yourself past the hard icy entrance and first bit of #1 👉 All of #4, #6, and part of #7 were in good shape and worthwhile 👍. The ATV damage on #8 and #7 made skating non-fun 👎
Someone opened the orange gate at the bottom of #7 and four-wheelers got in and tore up the #7 and #8 trail. #8 was particularly bad. Groomers did their best to repair it, but with the rain and freezing temperatures last night it must have been difficult. Lots of walkers were on the trail in the last 24 hours, includes the groomer was out this morning, particularly #6 and it was dangerous in places with holes. The classic track looked to be in good shape.
Hi Deej. Sorry for the congested trails yesterday, we had a lot of people out for the Family Ski event which included a lot of the Jackrabbit families, adult ski lesson groups, and also some MCAF Learn-to-Ski participants. We do talk about trail etiquette but sometimes the teaching or the social aspect of XC skiing just takes over. Apologies for that, Toon (outreach coordinator)
Skate at Killarney this morning, it was mediocre at best. Disappointed 👎 to see only 2 loops done, should have gone to the woodlot. Also disappointed at the trail etiquette of the groups on the trails today, pretty frustrating to be oncoming in plain view to 2-3 or more abreast skiers who won’t make a space 🤷♂️
Don’t let the NP fool you, it was not groomed this morning. Driving around without making any impact whatsoever is not ‘grooming’. Unless you break up the crust (like in the woodlot this morning) it just makes things worse by compacting. If the PistenBully was used they could break up the crust! A waste of time and resources!
Hopefully after the new snow they won’t push off the snow with too much speed and we can ski in the park again on the weekend. A lot of things still going on and March Break starting, which means a lot more families out skiing.
Hi, just wondering either way if and or what any grooming will be done today, just want to plan how i will enjoy these temps and sun. Word has it the groomers parked at the park???
Skied yesterday, 12 Feb. Thanks to the groomers! Lovely having 100% grooming and the hard work repairing the ATV damage made for a good ski. 5 is in fact groomed however it is a bit dicey, maybe “early stages” and will take a few more snowfalls before it evens out.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to come in from Two Nations depot? Thanks for fixing the surface Jeff, more snow needed to fill the ruts underneath I think.
With the new snow coming, it might be time to get the Pisten Bully out? Would help with the upcoming events.
I noticed on the weekend #4 was never groomed, too bad, it is a favorite of a lot of skiers. Also noticed that maybe the weekend groomers drive too fast as it seems snow is removed from the surface. Point in case the top of the ski terrain park where rocks still showed up at the surface on Saturday morning.
Most of the damage mentioned in the previous post has been repaired by Jeff. The “Intruders” who maliciously damage our trails should get the message soon as a new, bigger gate is being installed tomorrow to keep them out. If you see some tire tracks on the lower trails today or tomorrow (Wednesday) it is the city bringing in equipment to do the work necessary. Great skiing today! Snow in the forecast!!
I headed up 7 at 1:30 today. The city was replacing the 5 k gate that had been stollen earlier . Jeff had just finished repairing 7 and just before I arrived today at 1:30 pm , the trail was yet again ruined in broad daylight for anyone to see. Assuming they would be coming down again in heaven knows what condition, I turned around . This is not safe , let alone ruining the work that has gone into getting the trails ready for us to enjoy.
Overall great classic ski on Monday. Thanks groomers!! Ventured up 7 by the Lone Pine to 6 and could not ski, ATV completely destroyed it and much of outer 7. Deep tire marks. When the weather turns warm and the snow freezes it will be impossible to groom. Difficult job for the groomers to keep this groomed. Fat bikes, walkers, dogs, ATV’s, etc. and in between there’s skiing.
Today, some new snow, fresh grooming, some sun and temps a bit warmer than this morning made for a great ski. Snow is in the forecast so skiing is looking great going forward! Thanks to the groomers!
Afternoon ski today, Thursday 6th. 1.30-3.30, trails 10, 4, 7, 6, 8, 9, 7 and 1. Overall very good conditions, snow a little soft on the sides in places, classic tracks mostly good. Still need to be vigilant if you have new skis, there are still a few rocks poking through or gravel near the surface, here and there, especially on lower sections of 9 and trail 7 downhill that 9 joins to. Freshly groomed today.
Some adjustments were made to Nordic Pulse today and it appears to be working! This could be the best weekend of the year so watch NP for the grooming and get out to ski!
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL SKIERS:
Please note that when skiing the Kingswood trails, you must stay on the groomed portion of the trails. Do not deviate from these sections as you are putting our access to the Kingswood trails at risk. Thank you for your cooperation.

Nordic Pulse App, like some tech, is acting up and the city is working on getting it sorted out. Don’t rely on the report, the city was grooming the last time I was out and the skiing was remarkably good given the minimal snow since the last storm.

PB out again this afternoon, very nice conditions
Pisten Bully magic… #4, 6, 7, 8 were great this afternoon 👌 fast conditions. Get out before it’s possibly all over.
Saw the PB in the park today, the groomer and machine did a great job! Thank you 🙂

Hope we still get grooming after the busy weekend!
Pistenbully ‘injured’ again? High speed and maybe a sign that our trails need to be smoother “pre-snow”
Pisten-Bully is out doing its excellent work!
Wahoo!!!

What a wonderful winter day to be out skiing! Jeff was out grooming the skate lane so I got to “Ski the grooming”! Not too cold.

Looks like excellent coverage after the snow last night. When can we expect to see the piston bully out grooming?
NP shows they groomed most of the day.
Is piston bully out of commission?
No. PB cannot be used with the low snow cover we have had so far. More snow is needed.

I emailed the city regarding NordicPulse not working in real time and the response was that it was Wostawea’s app to manage. Is this correct?
Despite nothing on NP there has been fresh grooming at Killarney today.

Skate conditions today on the freshly groomed trails were amazing: best at Killarney so far this year.

The city is out grooming right now according to Nordic Pulse. So, it looks like the tech issue has been sorted out! Take a look.
